INSPIRATION FOR YOUTH IN SHENNY'S ENGLAND CAP

Castleford Tigers’ newly appointed Head of Youth Development, Steve Gill believes England debutante and Tigers’ scholarship graduate Michael Shenton will prove an inspiration to the hard-working juniors currently involved in the club’s ever-growing Scholarship scheme.

The Pontefract-born centre, 22, made his open-age international debut when England trounced Wales by 74-0 at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium on Friday – making a certain try saver on the 50th minute when he bundled former Tiger, Damien Gibson over the corner flag after the veteran had squeezed past Mark Calderwood and then a clinical hand in Peter Fox’s touchdown, the 14th and final try of the evening.

Iestyn Harris kicked a last-gasp penalty at Castleford as Bradford snatched a dramatic win to avoid a tough Super League play-off trip to France.

The Bulls had struggled to shake off the Tigers at The Jungle despite a hat-trick from winger Semi Tadulala.
